Do you have trouble wrapping your head around the concept of "practice" as well? Because lots of things suck when you're not used to them.

Had some Jaegermister. That was fun. 3 shots and I feel like I did after 10 cocktails. Good GOOD Yes YES

Mum had 2 and when I had 3 she said "That's 35% alcohol" and so I responded "Can I die of alcohol poisoning"

"Yes"

SO I STOPPED

The inebriation effect, when it comes to alcohol. Once you get past the taste, the payoff is pretty good. I dont smoke, but Im guessing the chemical kick from nicotine is the reason people put up with the disgusting cigarette taste until they start enjoying that too.

Now I want to point out that it's not just the inebriation that's good, it's also that there's no other drink that is as deep and complex in taste as a good, fine whiskey (for example).

You get used to something as time goes on the more you expose yourself to it. Somethings more than others, somethings never change, others change radically. As a kid I always hated mushrooms and onions and all that stuff. Today, I still find mushrooms absolutely repulsive, the singular texture of which makes me gag when I feel and taste it in my mouth, but I absolutely love onions. I eat raw chopped up pieces all the time when I'm cooking stuff. It's great.

I used to really dislike the taste of coffee. Now I can't get enough of it. I used to find beer really strong and gross. Now I can drink it like it's a Coke. Last time I had some Jack Daniels it didn't bother me as much as it used to. It used to burn my whole mouth and throat and make me feel like I'm having massive acid reflux, which made me feel ill. Now it's not as bothersome.

So when something is an acquired taste, it means you dislike it at first but may eventually learn to enjoy it. :psyduck:

Your body doesn't like new things. This is why kids are often little shits and opposed to eating things that they've never had before, or will try it and be completely repulsed by it. Doesn't mean they won't ever like it though, just means that their body might need to adjust to it and how to process it without telling you to avoid it altogether.

SO GUYS. GUESS WHAT I JUST FOUND OUT
In Washington state, you can buy liquor without age restriction if it's in candy. Guess who bought the last of our discounted Christmas liqueur candy.
I mean, they're only 2% alcohol, but still. They're right in that perfect level where they give you a light warm feeling, but not enough to actually be considered a buzz.

So I drank Jägermeister last night and it was nowhere near as awful as I remember it being. Kind of sweet and herbal. Strong aftertaste though. It goes down better if you sip it instead of shot it.

So I'm going to make some mead as soon as my yeast and stuff gets shipped to me (None of the stores around here sell any yeast besides plain bread yeast).

If you all want, I'll post process and progress.

Might venture into cider after that. Dunno. Cider takes a lot more smashing and filtering.
