They're all supposed to be pokemon he famously got in the games. The starters from red/blue, the pikachu from yellow, the snorlax that was asleep on the road (that he needed to use a pokeflute to wake up), etc.

He has all the normal red/blue starters and his pokemon from yellow. While in Yellow his rival took the eevee that Oak intended to give to red (which is why he ended up with Pikachu). So the eevee was just giving him the last remaining starter pokemon. He most likely got it from Bill (the guy who created the pokemon storage system) who he rescued after a freak accident. Since Eevee are his favorite pokemon and what he used to test the original storage system (he's also how you get an Eevee in silver/gold).

And no I didn't create an account just to say that, I just kept forgetting the username/password for the account I had before.
