AWKWARD ZOMBIE

Incoming post is a little vague to avoid some spoilers:

So my friend has been playing Virtue's Last Reward, and every time he plays more of it we've been getting together to talk about the game and discuss the craziness of the plot.

Early on, he was just spitballing ideas, and one of the things he said "Wouldn't it be crazy if X happened?" is totally a thing that happens and is a very WTF moment for the player. I have been waiting a long time for him to get to that part and see his reaction.

We hung out last night and he had apparently gotten to the part of the game where that happens, but stopped playing just before the scene in question. He's maybe ten screens of dialogue away from it. It made me really mad that I had to poker face through the discussion because the number one thing I wanted to talk about was right there and he hadn't seen it yet.

What's worse, he was going to play more when he got home, meaning he saw it right after we were done hanging out.

There's a bit of snow for one day and already the trains run late by half an hour. Guess I'll skip my first class today. Maybe both.

A few days ago, my friend asked me "hypothetically" if I didn't have a boyfriend, and he asked me out, what I would say. I told him no, and also said that he should focus on himself and getting over his nasty break up, which I then found out was from 4 years ago.

And tonight we were both texting each other mundane stuff like how bored we were, and a few minutes later he says "Hmm, I think tonight's a booty call night lol." And so I ended the conversation there and told him to have a good night. He follows up with "lol what booty call is a funny movie." This is also my friend who refers to Tuxedo Mask the "Canadian bacon guy" and frequently makes jokes about him being Canadian, for some odd reason.

...I am now wondering whether I truly consider him a friend, or if he was just a kind coworker, who is now just kinda harassing me out of loneliness.

My back has been hurting for the past three days (probably pulled something when I slipped on the massive sheets of ice from all that freezing rain we got), and it is making me be a sad little pumpkin. :c

In my experience, it's a little hard for a girl to have a friendship with a lonely guy. It's too easy for him to get a crush and turn everything awkward. =/

Not gonna lie I'm a (relatively) lonely guy and four of my best closest friends are women. It's really not all that hard for a guy to, y'know, not be an booty if they're not lazy.

It's not hard to try, true, but you'll always find people too lazy to put the effort in. The 'friendzone' wouldn't be a concept, much less a "problem" if all guys could handle this friendship stuff.

The lamp in my room finally burned out. I think I've had it since grade school, so it's been coming. It even has some of the dumb horse stickers I stuck on absolutely everything when I was kid still on it. It just sucks that I have to sit in my dark room straining my eyes against a dark area and a bright screen.

Aw thanks, Dire. And, I'm trying. It's hard for me to stop being friends with people. I think I'm just gonna try and be curt and less nice to him. The conversations between him and I are getting uncomfortable.. Every time I just think he's trying to flirt with me. It could just be me over reacting though.

I'm often on the losing side of arguments, and whenever I try to say something to help my case, it only makes things worse for me. How do I get better at debating?

Step 1: Actually debate rather than argue.
Step 2: Present facts to support your points. Actual facts. Sometimes deriving your own meanings from certain things isn't going to work in an intelligent debate.
Step 3: Accept the other person's opinion, and present your evidence in a calm and sportsmanlike manner.
Step 4: Be willing to admit you're wrong about things.
Step 5: Be the perfect human being, the ultimate life form.

Trust me, no one is perfect at debating, especially when they're actually wrong. Just think logically and follow from there, and do it calmly, without raising your voice or changing your tone or whatnot.

Hmm, I'm gonna need to work on those first four. Thanks for the advice, AquaBat!

Remember that you're (most likely) not trying to "beat" the other person. "Debate rather than argue" is good advice but I might even go as far to say that if you can, try to make it so that everyone involved doesn't even realize and feel like they're debating, more like they're chatting and discussing their views. That's more for smaller "issues" though.
