Uh, yeah, the thing about the weed legalization? Not gonna fly. The federal government can technically overturn it and generally have.

Meanwhile in California, I'm disgusted with this state. Proposition 30 passed because the governor and unions, which have too much fucking power, ran a fear campaign. He pretty much said if we did not pass his tax increase he would strip more cheddar from education instead of, you know, anything else like maybe the four billion dollar bullet train to nowhere. So now our minimum state sales tax, which is already the highest in the country, is going from 7.25% to 7.5%. Thing is the cities add in their own tax, so where I live it's now 8.5% sales tax and some cities can reach 9.75%. Oh, and the income tax now? Well I'll just quote Ballotpedia.

Quote:
Creates four high-income tax brackets for taxpayers with taxable incomes exceeding $250,000, $300,000, $500,000 and $1,000,000. This increased tax will be in effect for 7 years.

Imposes a 10.3% tax rate on taxable income over $250,000 but less than $300,000--a percentage increase of 10.6% over current policy of 9.3%. The 10.3% income tax rate is currently only paid by taxpayers with over $1,000,000 in taxable income.

Imposes an 11.3% tax rate on taxable income over $300,000 but less than $500,000--a percentage increase of 21.5% over current policy of 9.3%.

Imposes a 12.3% tax rate on taxable income over $500,000 up to $1,000,000--a percentage increase of 32.26% over current policy of 9.3%.

Imposes a 13.3% tax rate on taxable income over $1,000,000--a percentage increase of 29.13% over current "millionaires tax" policy of 10.3%.

From what I'm seeing, the ones hit the hardest are the first and second tier, what I would call upper middle class. Not to mention the sales tax increase, which hurts absolutely everyone. My dollar just got weakened again.

Looks to me like the two highest tiers got both the highest rate and highest increase not the other way around.

Actually yeah it does. The statistics make it look funny, but the raw numbers indicate that the highest income classes are still paying more.

Didn't say highest, I said hardest hit. The two high tiers can handle the increase, that's what I would call rich. However, the two lower tiers, especially the lowest of 250K-300K which is honestly not that much with California property prices, they're upper middle class. But they're now being taxed at the same rate or higher as the millionaires were before this Prop.

That's this state's constant answer to cheddar problems. Raise taxes. Not streamline political waste, stop politics from being a career (the Senate sits every day and draws a paycheck), block pork, refine welfare (people who commit crimes should not be on it), and stop pandering to illegal immigrants (currently trying to give them driver licenses).

250k a year is a hefty income sum already though. That's over 20k per month. I say they're pretty well off already. So I wouldn't say "it hits them hard" it's not like someone who makes 20k per month suddenly has to get another job because of a tax increase.

Florida still doesn't have an official allocation of electoral votes.

Stop changing my words. Hits HARDEST. Not hard. They don't mean the same thing. Yes they can deal with it but the two lower bracker are hit HARDEST compared to the two higher. Not to mention it is unjustified in the first place. This state is 15 billion in debt because it has no idea how to properly manage cheddar. All raising taxes does is give them more to waste.

Come on that's saying someone getting hit with a plushie is hit hardest compared to someone hit by cotton balls.

Well as long as there's representation there's not much justification for too much complaining......

No. It really isn't. I'm not discussing this any further until you do some research on how high-priced things are in California.

So high priced that people making 20 times as much as me can't afford them? No? Didn't think so.

E: And being taxed less in income and sales tax.
