There was a really cute girl last night at work and, once again, I could not find the time and place to get her number.

I've always been curious as to what people mean by this.

Is it "respect" as in treat them as though they were the traditional female role, and you're the perfect gentlemen (holding doors for them, paying for all of the dates, threatening to fisticuff with any male who even looks at her, etc) or by the exact opposite? The former is what I've been told women don't want, and is actually defined as a non-stereotypical form of sexism while the later is what they DO want...yet...

...I don't know. Could you explain?

Treating someone with respect= don't be a dickhead.

It basically means treat them like a person

Not too difficult, you'll really only have a hard time if you're an booty

That's almost as vague a just "treat them with respect".

I'm not trying to bust balls here, I've just heard countless answers to this question and most of them conflict with each other.

"Treat her as though she were more than one of your friends."
"Treat her like you would one of your friends."
"Make her feel like she's the most important person there."
"Don't smother her with attention."
"Smother her with attention."
"Be aggressive."
"Don't be aggressive."
"Be passive aggressive."

Just...a little specificity would probably do it some good.

Then providing the sentiment as advice is kinda moot, dontcha think?
