While I agree with most of what you say, Karilyn, I do have to point out that sometimes there is the slight chance that a newcomer can change the way an institution is structured. To quote G-man, "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world." The possibility of reform is always there, and there's nothing wrong with trying to be a catalyst for that change.

Derp. Colors wasn't a real person.

Even if he wasn't Merlin, and that was a real person doing all that; you're right, that doesn't mean he had a wrong opinion. HOWEVER, it does mean, that as a result of his opinion and the actions that he chose to take because of his opinion, meant that this forum is the wrong place for him.

Users seem to come in three varieties.

1. People like Colors, who come on, don't agree with the forum, and start a shitstorm.
2. People who come on, don't agree with the forum, and leave peacefully
3. People who come on, don't agree with the forum 100% of the time, but weave themselves into the forum peacefully.

There is no 4. There is no person who agrees with everyone in a community 100% of the time.

Like seriously, I got myself banned from the Slightly Damned forums in two days. The admin there had a metal rod up her booty like nobody's business, and flipped the fuck out. That's fine, that's cool. I'm well aware of a place where I don't fit in on that forum.

When you don't fit in somewhere, you have two choices... Accept it, or fight it. You cannot possibly fit in everywhere, and you cannot possibly hope to win by fighting it.

See, your problem is that you're assuming that this forum is intelligent enough to realize the folly of their mistakes and that they'll take it gracefully.

Instead you get bill trying to force billface again and people acting like they knew all along. If you ever want the forum to derive a lesson from anything, you have to spell it out to them like you would to a two-year old.
