I think it's Norwegian for "dirty animal", or something along those lines. I think it may be a mistranslation though, because, yes, a couple of those characters are in the Russian alphabet.

With the others gone, and the ghastly, humongous beast out of sight, Peter sat down for a moment, contemplating his shattered dignity. The horse just seconds ago started staring intensely at him, as if he had done something to annoy it. It didn't help the matter at all.

Just as he sat down though, he saw a red flash in the corner of his eyes. He turned to see a red blob, abandoned and cold. Whatever it was, it was tinged red, although it seemed to be losing colour fairly quickly. Suddenly, realization flashed through Peter's mind.

The jellyfish!

He knelt down to scoop it up, and held it close towards himself. Already the small thing's colour seemed to be growing stronger. I can't believe it! I've finally found it, he thought. ...But this is no use to me now. Lady Torizo is still captured by that awful sorcerer, and I doubt a jellyfish will do much good now...

still, I can't leave such a rare thing here to die alone. I'll take it with me, and present it to Torizo when the time comes...
