Squats are good. If you do weighted squats, those also strengthen your core.
But make sure to have someone there to show you the proper form.

I'll look those up on Youtube, since there's nobody here when I exercise. Thanks for the tip.

i had been eating good and doing lots of cardio this summer to make my stomach lose its little bit of squish for when i cosplayed jade and had my midriff exposed, but then that fell through and i've been really stressed and i started kind of binge eating and i've gained it all back plus some ; ; i feel gross and pretty much banned sweets from my house for a while

but i really need some other way to work out because i'm growing super bored of doing weights and stuff especially since we don't even have the gym environment anymore to kind of keep us motivated. i want to get strong and lose weight but i want to have fun :[ we don't have the cheddar to take classes in some thing like climbing or pole so i'm kinda stuck with parkour on the playgrounds and trying not to kick little kids in the head on accident x:

My favourite ab exercise right now has got to be this:

Hold this pose for 30 seconds:

Followed by this one for another 30:

Go back to the first one for another 30, then switch to the other side for yet another, then back again to the center. I do this until I've done my center four times and both sides twice.

I like squats for that and shit like hanging leg raises.
I lost 5 kg since I started going to gym and counting calories.
Got some strength in return.
Good tradeoff in my opinion.

Why would you use squats for your abs? I think you might mean crunches.

Weighted squats are pretty good for your whole core.

They're good, but they'll never focus on your core enough to be the only exercise you should do for them.

What's equivalent or better than having to keep your body stable with 70+ kg on your back?

Basically, any exercise where you focus specifically on those muscle groups, as opposed to using them to make minute adjustments to keep yourself stable. For example: Squats require you to have a strong enough lower back to support that weight, but compare how sore your muscles will be between that and stiff legged dead lifts.

I'm not saying squats aren't good. I'm saying that if you want to train the muscles in your abs and lower back, squats are not your answer.

I'm doing deadlifts too once a week. Tomorrow again.
