I mean, no one told me anything and I was wondering if it was more of an annoyance than assistance.

Gotta say, I'm liking all of these news threads. I think we don't need the current events thread anymore.

I actually always forget to check the CE thread out, so the new system is kinda helpful in that regard. Also, people seem to be making more threads and talking about things more then they did in the CE thread.

Defending Current Events because there are many smaller news items that I would post in Current Events but don't rreaaallly feel like they need whole new threads to themselves. Big events like the Pope quitting, or internet censorship acts (especially this one) would have probably got whole threads for themselves regardless. Current Events would have be the smaller news stuff, like an ER doctor getting praise for a heartfelt personal letter to the deceased's family, or a family billed for use of an ambulance that showed up too late to help at all, or the Curiousity rover mohawk guy getting a seat by the First Lady at the State of the Union address, or even North Korea shenanigans and more Twinkie drama, all stuff that probably wouldn't get half a page of discussion if they had a thread to themselves (except maybe North Korea shenanigans - yikes). Small events could get some discussion, but there would be a flood if we had a new thread for every bit of news I wanted to talk about. :I

Since the accidental deletion of Ame's posts, everyone has learned that mass post loss basically destroys the forum for a period of time. I feel that for anyone to be promoted to modhood in the future, they will have to be trusted EXTREMELY well not to fuck over the entire forum by deleting Exeres.

If I were going to destroy the entire forum I'd delete you AND Exeres just to be sure.

I think after taking one of us down you'd be in for quite a hard time if you wanted to actually navigate to the write pages or however it works to take down the other one. 17k or 18k posts down, the forum would be good and dead for a while.

I prefer the Current Events thread to separate news threads.

I don't think every news story is really worthy of its own thread on a forum that isn't about news. All the extra threads get in the way, IMO. I don't really come to AZ to read the news, but if I feel like seeing what the forumites find interesting, I can open up the thread.

What happened with Ame anyway; Did he just move on?

I'm really just curious as to how this accidental deletion of his posts came about and if we need to find ways to safeguard against it happening again if it's really that easy to do something like that by accident.

He posted a thread in an entirely foreign language with links in the post. He was pretty much waving around a red flag with a bull ten feet away.

I suppose I can see how that might lead to a deletion accident.

Nope. He just hasn't been back since then other than a couple posts on a new account.

It wasn't just deletion of his posts. It was the deletion of his entire account like any other SCP.
