I voted 2 weeks ago and for Johnson because I figure a vote for Obama in Texas is fucking useless but at least I can show people that some people DO CARE about 3rd party people.

Vote for local stuff. It effects you more anyways.

Don't you guys have some sort of system where even the losing party has power depending on how much votes they got relative to the others?

You're thinking of Canada.

This except for the last four years every time someone brings up politics around my parents. They were convinced he would have himself set up as a dictator by now.

Same here.

So I just read up on electoral college.
I had no idea this kind of a system existed.

I think it's worthy of note that Obama did in fact win Florida in 2008. I know my county is definitely voting Romney, but maybe the state as a whole will bleed blue again. Or maybe we'll have another 2000 election fiasco.

It's supposed to prevent straight-out democracy, or as the founding fathers called it, mob rule. These days it's kind of redundant and just disheartening for voters.

So apparently there are voting machines that refuse to accept Romney as a pick and members of the Black Panther Party are showing up to polls with nightsticks and just standing around.

Apparently there are voting machines that don't accept Obama votes too.
Lynching mobs aren't new either.

How do I officially denounce citizenship and become Canadian?

Replace blue with red and it's pretty much the same here. Half the reason why I'm not voting. Other half is because I never bothered to register yet and honestly I keep up so little with politics and I think being an uninformed voter is worse than being an unvoting informed person.

There's actually a thing you can do which gets you a Canadian citizenship and passport after 3 years in Canada, and you don't have to denounce any other citizenships.

I mean I know you're not serious but just saying it's totally possible.

To quote someone from another forum who's been trying to get into Canada for a while.

Quote:
Wish him luck. Canada only gives out 10000 emigration visas per year, and the only way you can emigrate legally is if a) you're oppressed in your own country, b) you have family in Canada, or c) have a job there. Even if you manage to emigrate legally you hafta live there three years before you can even apply for citizenship.

Believe me, I've been tryin' ta emigrate there since the SCOTUS handed the 2004 election to Bush Jr, and it's about as easy as pullin' frog's teeth with a ballpeen hammer.

I knew about the emigration requirements. One of my goals is to finish college and get a job in a different country. Not really Canada, tbh. Sorry, Canada.
