Oooh gardening.
Since my room is in the basement, my window leads to a tiny fire escape area that I'd have to climb up to get out of the house if I was trapped or something. It's the only thing I can see when my curtains are open and it's butt-ugly with dead weeds and crap, so I've decided to turn it into a tiny atrium. I'm planning on pulling up the weeds, putting down some topsoil, and planting flowers. I have gladiola bulbs and I was thinking about putting bleeding hearts there too, but then I remember how big bleeding heart plants can get so I'm really not sure.

Does anyone have another suggestion for what to plant there?

That depends. Do you want annuals, or perennials?

EDIT: Whoops, forum borked and told me Cori's post was after my first one. Oh well.

I don't have a preference for annual or perennial, but this area gets colder than at my old house--there's still frost on my car sometimes. So plants that can handle frost would be good.

Do you like 'mums or hostas? Chrysanthemums are fairly sturdy, and you don't plant hostas for another month anyway. Those are really the only two I can think of that wouldn't croak in the dry heat that Eastern Washington gets in the summer.

Yup yup
I'll look up some more, though. I can also ask my nana if she knows of any summer flowers that do well in confined spaces.

You typically want aloe to be able to drain, since it's a desert plant. Succulents can actually kind of get fucked over with too much water.

It's in dirt now. I guess she was trying to make it grow roots because it was an arm from my mother's mother's plant.

Let it grow. Challenge yourself to get it to bloom. If you get burned, snap an arm and squeeze the gel out.

LOOK
AT
MY FLOWERS

All right, enough editing. Whenever I edit one post it connects to the other one for some reason, so I'll just put my Morning Glories in links.
