Well, you'd meet your future wife when she's single because you still haven't married her due to you time traveling up until that year.

Which would complicate how you'd know who is your future wife.

I'd go to the future and see how my family would be handling life with me suddenly disappearing in my time travels. It'd be interesting, I think.

Unless you made a point to come back to when you left.

You would go to the future knowing you'd go back, thus allowing future-future you to become future-past you.

Because of the recent discussion, if I had a time machine I'd get top scientists to study it so we'd know how time traveling works exactly because this is confusing.

Well if people ever did invent a time machine then they've already used it and effected the world. So it's impossible to do anything because it's already been done.

I wonder who would use it first though.

Military perhaps, I figure someone would want time assassins to end wars quickly.


Also, I'm curious, instead of just saying what we would do with a time machine, perhaps we should expand the topic into general time traveling discussions as we're doing now? I think the topic will last longer that way and be more interesting.

Visit a particularly inspiring military/political/academic/cultural figure and listen to them for hours.

I don't know which though...wait, I've got a fnuckin' time machine. I'll just go to each as I think of them.

Ok, general time travel discussion:
What do you call an object that is sent back in time to become itself?
My brother calls them Djinn, I believe from reading The StainlessSteel Rat, because, like a Djini (genie) from the lamp, it couldn't possibly have physically come from there.

Unless when you're done in the future, you head back to the past and live life normally from there, a la Back to the Future 2.

I would go way into the future to see how humanity has progressed. Hopefully, we're a space-faring civilization that is totally rad. Also aliens would be cool.

If it was awesome and better than life as it is now, I would travel back to the present, grab family and friends and then go back to the awesome alien future.

I would probably want to be a hippie and go back millions of years to when the Earth's continent was Pangaea or in some other configuration, and explore the landscape and see what the environments and ecosystems are like.

Or I could go millions of years into the future and see what the earth is like then.

I would probably need to be immortal in order to have enough time to see all these places, though.
