With black "chlorophyl"

That could imply that the planet doesn't get as much intensity of sunlight as Earth does, requiring the producers to absorb more wavelengths of light. In that case we could probably also say that the planet is somewhat cool due to a dimmer star, OR possibly has a thicker atmosphere with more clouds that block the light, which could also mean that with enough greenhouse gases the planet could actually be warmer.

This is fun. This is why I'm an Environmental Studies/Biology major folks

With the oceans and everything that we've already placed, a thicker atmosphere with many clouds would be the better choice.
I'm seeing fungi, algae, moss and lichens as the most dominant types of plantlife, since they can survive off of little sunlight and love moisture.

And I expect Many fish.

Perhaps with this thick atmosphere, thare may be plants like kelp with lighter-than-air bladders that allow them to float while rooted on land.

Hmm...
Plants with air bladders that grow on ground sound pretty neat.
They could serve as forests of sort.

And maybe an insect species that has learned to pop these bladders to get them airborne.

and a subspecies of plant that has developed a poison for the insects.

So looks like we're looking at a kinda dark, warm, humid sort of place.

With all the islands, I'm imagining lots of shallow seas to support fish and whatnot, and mangrove-type biomes on land, probably swampy.

The air bladders can help those "plants" reach sunlight in heavily "forested" areas.

Maybe the bugs could pop the bladders and construct hives inside while feeding from the plant.
And there could be plants that grow on the airbladderplant that resemble a bladder, but are actually carnivorous and eat the easily confused insects. Kind of like a venus flytrap.

Pretty much.
Nice little twist for the insects.

Where are these aerial plants going to get their nutrients from though, since they aren't rooted in the ground?

They are attached to the ground.
Like Algae, which stay upright thanks to air bladders.

Oh, I thought we were going to have migrating plants.
Whoops! :pseudo:

I want these plants with air bladders to be able to float away when disconnected from the ground.
And like, if people hang onto a large one and chop off the stem they could do balloon travel with these plants.

What about other plants too like trees & mushrooms?
