Double post for twice the coolness.
Lesson 2: articles and nouns (jobs)The second part of our class will be about German articles and nouns. As you probably know, every noun in German has a gender associated with it, either male, female or neutral. Accordingly, there are 3 articles that translate to "the".
the(m)........der........
listen!the(f)..........die.........
listen!the(n).........das.........
listen! The same goes for the word "a" if want to talk generally and not about a certain whatever. The male and neutral version is the same.
a (m, n).....ein........
listen!a (f)..........eine.......
listen!Lastly for now, I'll show you a few jobs. Every job has a male and a female version where in the female version you just add a -in at the end. Sometimes, if the job has a a, o or u inside, those become Umlaute (ä,ö,ü) when switching to the female form, but not always.
teacher......Lehrer/-in......
listen!pupil.........Schüler/-in.....
listen!doctor.......Arzt/Ärztin......
listen!baker.......Bäcker/-in.......
listen! With our new words, you are now able to say what you do by simply saying
"Ich bin ein/e <job>." or "Ich bin <job>." Example:
"Ich bin Schüler."If you want to know a different job, just post it and I will tell you and record a clip for pronounciation. See you next time!
