It is, hands down, one of the greatest books I have ever read. It changes your view on everything.

Fucking quote for truth.

My brother has Candide, so I can borrow that, and I'll go to Borders and get Ishmael, An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit. Rad, I think that's enough books.

Eragon is bullshit. The only good fantasy books being released these days are the Mouse Guard comics. :colbert:

And I have Redwall and it starts off incredibly boring.

Also, Candide is only 140 pages long. What should I say to convince my teacher tomorrow to allow me to read it?

SMACK!

By Melvin Burgess. Seriously, it's about two kids in Britain who run away from home and get addicted to heroin. =D

Yeeaahh... I'd buy that if I were a teacher. :pseudo:

I suggest Life of Pi. It's kind of religious, and it's not sci-fi or horror, but there's a wonderful little bit about a zebra being eaten alive that might make it worth your while. I personally love reading it to my weak-stomached friends. :eng101:

The Stand, of course. Good long read, and it's very well written. Get the complete and uncut edition, if you can. It's what I have.

Also, gotta agree with Katie, Catch-22 is incredible.

Discworld series, definetley, fantasy comedy series.
If I were you, pick up Eric, Sourcery, Reaper Man, and Thud! Those are the best ones to me so far. :U

I used to like Redwall. It's a bit like Zelda, but with animals. These days I just hang around the one decent fansite and boss people around.

Holes, by Lois Sachar (I think that's how you spell his name) is a good one. I'm pretty sure you've already heard of it though. If you haven't, you suck.
Also "Don't call me Ishmael!" is apparently good. I forgot who it's by, but I'm meeting him soon, so I should get his name sometime.

I read Holes a long time ago. It was pretty lame.

Holy oh my god. D: Marry me! No one else I've asked has ever heard of that book! *high five* I love life of Pi. <3

Also, I don't read many horror books, I lean more towards fantasy, but... I like Cell, by Stephen King, and... you'd think I'd know more, since I work at a library. Troll Sea is good... There are very few books that I actively dislike, really.
