I love Sufjan Stevens. I've heard a lot of people say that they liked Michigan better than Illlinois because it "has more passion" in it, but I really like Illinois better because it has more variety in the tone of the songs.

Also, how about "A Conjunction of Drones Simulating the Way In Which Sufjan Stevens Has an Existential Crisis In the Great Godfrey Maze" and "They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhh!" for song titles?

I still can't figure out for the life of me how to pronounce his name, though. "Sue-faan?" "Sue-vann?" "Suf-yahn?" I have no idea.

That's the one.

Oh, and I finally listened to The Glow Pt. 2 by The Microphones. Awesome scratchy indie stuff. It's supposed to sound like a CD skipping, right?

I don't know what else to say besides that this man is amazing.

Isn't he doing New Jersey next?

Has anyone here heard his album "Enjoy Your Rabbit"? He doesn't sing a word in it. It's all experimental, almost techno-y. And all the songs are named after years on the Chinese calendar (Year of the Dragon, Year of the Ox), save for a couple (Year of our Lord, Year of the Asthmatic Kitten). They're all good.

I found Sufjan via Naruto AMV.

A Sasuke and Itachi themed video played to 'John Wayne Gacy Jr.'

The video was alright, but the music turned me into a fan of S.S.

...Ironicly, It was also a Naruto AMV that lead me to discover Elliot Smith (It was played to 'Happiness/Gondola man.')

Good. Bad?

So bad it went through hell just to come back and forever sit in this thread as a reminder of how much fail life can hold.

Every new Sufjan Stevens album I listen to (and by "new" I mean, "old but I haven't heard yet"), I love. The Avalanche is a very good album, and Dear Mr. Supercomputer is absolutely amazing. One of the best Sufjan songs I've ever heard. I finally listened to Michigan, and it's amazing. It's so sad and deep. Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! (Rebuild! Restore! Reconsider!) has the most unique rhythm I've ever heard in any song ever (so far). Redford (For Yia-Yia & Pappou) is amazingly simple. Vito's Ordination is incredible, and the best ending for an album I've heard.

Michigan is one of my new favorite albums. Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) is such a sad and beautiful song and I can't stop listening to it. D:
Oh God, Where Are You Now? (In Pickeral Lake? Pigeon? Marquette? etc.) is another song that brings me such peace. It makes me pop flyin'. :D

Dunno if it's true, but I'd heard he was doing California next. (yay!)
