my dream is to have a big fucking utopia in my yard with koi ponds and cobblestone paths and plants EVERYWHERE like i want and arboretum behind my house ;o;

for now i just have some pots on my tiny patio haa

i have two 3ft planters with onions and broccoli in them, one little potted broccoli, a hanging pot thing with a kalanchoe in it from my grandpa, a pot with two angel trumpets (one PANK, one white, soon be to a third in yellow - we're attempting to make it all look like one plant haha,) cut from my dad's plants, and one lovely little owari satsuma tree that has already begun to bear fruit and i love watching the little oranges grow.

oh a cutting of my mom's aloe vera that hasn't quite taken root yet

and soon to be shit-ton of sunflowers coz the birds like to sling the seeds around out of the feeder :P

we have mostly useful plants - i want more flowers! my dad has several different varieties of hibiscus (my favourite flower,) that i want cuttings of but i need to get pots for them. i also saw a plant called cat's whiskers at the garden store that i REALLY like - i might have to go get one >> they're used to make java tea! i just learned this!

I planted some rosemary today! We'll see if it grows at all in the middle of the desert in California.

You're either overwatering it or the soil is too thick and moist so the water doesn't sink quite enough. Cacti do best in dry, loose soil.

Of the new peas I planted, three quarters didn't sprout for some reason. I dug them up and they were just mush, not sprouted at all. I planted new ones in their place.

Pea updates.

The first batch is already as high as my arm is long but hasn't grown any blooms yet. What up with that?

The others are starting to grow properly now.

rhinocerocket gave me a carnation at my sister's graduation! I put it in a vase in my room, but since I'm completely new at this, how often should I change the water so that it doesn't die as quickly? I got it on Friday and haven't changed it yet, but it still looks healthy.

When they start looking unhealthy it's usually too late already.

Change the water now.

Lucky you. My pea stalks are just standing there with their leaves and no flowers.

Uhhhhh, so.
The bottom half of my pea plants are starting to turn yellow and die.
While the upper half keeps growing and sprouting blossoms?
What's going on?

My Mint plant is starting to grow out of control. I should drink even more tea.

a quick google says that they might be getting too much water and not enough oxygen. try tilling the soil a little with your hands (try not to damage roots,) to give them some more air. or invest in some earthworms!

it stormed a few days ago and my broccoli are quite unhappy with all the water in the soil themselves >< i want them to bloom already, dammit! i want broccolis! i might have to feed them though, they kinda stopped growing and don't look super pop flyin'.

My peas are growing nicely, and my carrots have sprouted, along with tomatoes, and green peppers!

My watermelon patch is also growing nicely and Clarke had perked up. I guess he needed more sunshine.

It's really hot outside and my plants keep becoming yellow even though I tilled the ground a bit.
