I don't think North Korea is crazy/stupid enough to actually fire a nuclear bomb at a country, if their military leaders have any rational thought, they'd realize the world would gang up on them and tear them to shreds, even China was like "No, guys, stop testing nukes, please."

Uh. Have you seen North Korea?

Have you?

Always bear in mind that propaganda may be distorting your perception - the way North Korea has been reported in the general media may be a massive distortion of reality.

It suits western governments (who support/have interests in South Korea) for North Korea to be painted up by the press/media as 'the bad guys'; Nuclear tests aside, I often wonder just how much of what is reported is actually true.

That is true, but I do believe that the general population is completely brainwashed. Any one who's ever been to N. Korea has told the same story, it's like going to an alien planet. They honestly believe that their leader is divine. It's of course the question to what extent this affects their leaders, but it's not the sign of a healthy and stable ideology, I can tell you.

North Korea threatened South Korea with "final destruction" during a debate at the United Nations Conference on Disarmament on Tuesday, saying it could take further steps after a nuclear test last week.

Ever seen the looks of pure terror accompanied by people near King Jong Un?

The pictures from Kim Jong Il's funeral were heavily photoshopped and the crying looks extremely faked. I believe that the public is generally forced at gunpoint to celebrate their "Great Leader". The people aren't fanatical about their leader, they're terrified.

I don't know much about China, but I think they would want a nuclear war as much as the next guy, which is not at all. And I think there's a point where you just can't stand with one of your allies anymore, which at the lowest should be your ally decimating another country with nuclear bombs for the hell of it.
As bad a country as China is, they're still smarter than NK.

China would only tolerate an invasion if the United States did a co-op with them and there were clear terms on when we would leave.

But otherwise they're not all that averse to knocking out NK since they're kind of sitting next to the kid with a block of C4 and hoping he won't pull the trigger.

China has a weird relationship with NK, IIRC. Sometimes they make it seem like they're allies just for the formality of it, so they turn a blind eye to some of what NK is doing sometimes, but other times they're not entirely on board.
