Soooooo, is it politically correct to refer to black people as "black people"?

Yes, since we also refer to ourselves as "white people". If we normally called ourselves "Caucasians" then it wouldn't be, but...I don't think some people even know what that means.

Calling white people 'caucasian' isn't even that accurate by my understanding of it.

I think the issue is often that you feel the need to point race out rather than what term you use.

Sometimes you have to use race as a descriptor though. Like, I could say "That guy in the polo, with glasses, y'know, he's tall, right there?" And it still wouldn't be known. I don't see a problem with describing someone by their race, but maybe that's just because in my family it's a normal question.

I want to say the question of "just how do women want to be treated?!" Is less to be some serious question to gather any info, and more something to note the inconsistencies in how members of the gender answer it.

Okay but men would do this too if you were to ask a large enough group, so I don't really see where you're coming from with this.

Men would do what to?

I was noting the idea that the only time I ever hear that question asked is so the person asking could just note how whatever answer they received is false, or inconsistent, typically with some personal anecdotal evidence.

I mean we would all give a different answer. It's not limited to women.

I know. The question is rather pointless since people only ask it to note all of the inconsistencies with the answers. I didn't really imply that a specific gender was giving all of those answers. Actually I figured the rest of the comment detailing that women and men are the same would imply that...

Anyway, I just don't care about religion at all. Within the scope of the universe, does it really matter? Does anything really matter? I just want to have a good, fun life. I'll live within the norms and values of society that my beliefs allow me too. But there are still a lot of things I either don't agree with, or just don't care. Like marriage. I believe it's meant to be a religious ceremony of, within Abrahamic faiths, the union of a man and a woman to produce children and continue the human race under it's religious values and moralities. That's the way I see it. But not being religious myself, I doubt I'll ever be "married". I don't really care.

Nothing seems to tell you that God exists? You haven't really been looking then. Does it really matter? Try asking that later in your life when you have nothing else left but your fading memories and then ask yourself if it really does matter. Where does norms and values of society come from anyway? If we are just creatures made from nothingness without purpose then how can you define what is moral what is good and what is bad? Tsk tsk tsk.

Excuse me, this forum is not a place for insulting other people's beliefs. I say this as a Roman Catholic Christian.

It seems a female friend I haven't talked to in over a year is now male, so I was wondering: when you want to talk about something that happened to a trans person before they started identifying as another gender, do you use their gender at the time the thing you're talking about happened, or does the current gender take precedence?

Last time I asked I was told to use the current gender, but I guess that depends on the person. If you're worried you'll make a mistake just go on and ask him/her !

yeah, I'd say it'd be best to just ask him to see what he's comfortable with
