i either can't show enough enthusiasm or i go way on the other end of the spectrum and just have a panic attack about it. though that last one usually only happens when it's something REALLY nice/meaningful/etc.

but seriously i feel like i've ruined a lot of christmases because i'm just like yay c: and that's about it when i get gifts.

See, I have such low expectations when it comes to buying gifts for other people, that I am pretty pop flyin' with getting about anything. It's like my self-esteem is so low I've told myself I don't even deserve gifts. So it's like hey, you got me socks? Sounds like a win to me. Unless it's from my mother, she just gets me really terrible gifts sometimes and I just kinda go "uh... thanks..."

So when I do get really nice things it's like holy cow, you didn't need to get me this thing and I don't even know what to say, lol.

Also, that comic is spot-on.

For some reason, I get offended any time someone pays me a compliment. It's like, either I think they're just saying it to keep me from feeling bad, or they just have poor judgement.

However, whenever someone (so far, it's only been women) tells me I have pretty eyes, I get really embarrassed.

Seriously, that is hands down the best way to get my guard down. By several miles.

I myself feel rather awkward when people compliment me on my hair.
More so if someone asks who my stylist is.
I haven't stepped foot into a salon or anything in ten years.
I just throw water at it and I wake up looking just fine.

I also used to trim it with crafting scissors in front of the computer while playing MMOs up until life troubles at the end of last year.

For real, I am so jealous of everyone and their perfect, effortless hair

ALso the right product for the right look is essential! But i have totally seen some amazing shit done with solely hairspray. goddamn that woman was a wizard.

another tip for long hair (and trust me, i know): don't fuckin BRUSH IT WITH A BRUSH

use a wide-toothed comb and comb it when it's semi-dry. brushing your hair even with a rubber tipped brush breaks the ends and makes it frizzy.

I don't like brushes due to traumatic childhood experiences.

Experiment with different styles and shampoos and hairsprays and stuff. Just make sure to give your hair time to heal tho.

Personally I love mousse, I've got wavy shoulder length hair and a handful of mousse after a shower and I'm good for the day.

maybe i have just never used mousse before but christ this sounds like a lot.

mousse is bodaciously 99% air.

It's even less dense than shaving cream and you know how much that foams up.

I shave my head. My hair gets all wiry when it gets long, plus I have horrible dandruff that gets worse the longer my hair gets. Like, bleeding and such, but only on the sideburns when the hair there gets about 3/4 of an inch.

And no, I've tried several kinds of dandruff shampoo.
