Why are cocktails so fucking expensive? The profit margins on them are enormous and 90% of the time they're not even done properly.

Because I'd assume most people don't know it's bad or don't care.

i try not to drink at bars and such because everything is so over priced, i mean i can get a bottle for the price of two drinks.

i'm thinking about trying to get my bar-tending license when i get back to LA, it'd be pretty great to learn how to make and mix drinks. plus i wanna create some of my own

i really only like sweet alcoholic drinks and even then if they taste too...alcohol-y i won't drink it. so its pretty much wine, daiquiris, hot sex and kaluha+milk for me

I like champagne too but I prefer sèc.

i will agree about most places are overpriced and/or cant mix a proper drink. some blatantly overcharge cause they can get away with it (places at like dragon con, where a rum and coke is shit and costs 12 dollars)

i will say some places can do a daisies good cocktail for cheap and make it well too. ruby tuesdays does one called a ruby relaxer which is 5 bucks and pretty fuckin tasty, while a pub i used to go to (food and service went to shit) the main bartender knew how to make a toyko ice tea PERFECTLY and thats about 5 different liquors in one glass so for 8 bucks its not that bad on price AND its fucking delicious

When doing grocery shopping yesterday the guy in line behind me bought:
18 bottles red wine
12 bottles champagne
10 bottles Amaretto

What the hell.

He's probably throwing a party.

Must be a daisies big party.

I will say that I end up finding the best bar deals in the most unlikely places, like normal restaurants. Ruby Tuesdays is awesome, and so is Appleby's....they do $3 Margarita Wednesdays and you can get yourself pretty drunk for less than 20 bucks.

Or you buy yourself a bottle of vodka for less than 10 and mix your own shit and get pretty drunk.

Unfortunately sometimes I must go out with friends or coworkers to "socialize"

Going to a bar has it's own feel and it's a lot easier to organize. Also easier to head into town after drinking too.

And just like a nice restaurant, you aren't paying for just the food, you're paying for having a good time. Service, atmosphere, choice... your cheddar isn't just going to the drink. If you want to sit on a lawn chair in your back yard with a few friends and a bottle, that's fine, but sometimes it's nice to go somewhere with a bit of class, too.

Bought a nice Jamaican rum. It was probably aged in a whiskey barrel. It has a light taste of a whiskey in the beginning.
