Zink stopped tearing about the gears.

"Okay, kid, stop, there's no way we can set up the traps for this guy in time. I mean, he's kind of right there. It'd be hard to get him to fall for a trick like that when he, you know, will be able to see us setting it up. You keep getting material, though. I'll handle this."

Zink immediately looked for a weapon of some kind. Something that he could wave around to appear even the slightest bit threatening. He immediately grabbed the staff-like stick in the hidden safe.

"You." he said to the exhausted looking man that had just arrived, "Leave. Now. Or else"

He was trying to sound menacing, but he was doing a pretty bad job and instead just sounded mildly irritated.

Peter and his group woke up at the crack of dawn, ready to start traveling. Squigzog and Deiotheus were high-spirited and ready to go, but once again, Peter had nothing to say, and just tossed and turned his thoughts over in his mind.

They had only traveled for a couple of hours when Peter stopped the group.

"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" asked Deiotheus. "You're the one with the dragon ears."

"There's something ahead of us...something big"

The sound got louder. It was something running. Peter looked at the others in the group while concentrating on the noise.

Squigzog started, "hey, I hear it to-"

Before he could finish, a giant Cockatrice leaped out of the trees ahead of them!



"Oh god, it's a Cockatrice!" yelled Peter frantically.

"Hehe...cock"

"Shut up Squigzog, this thing is going to kill us!"

(oh noooooo we're gonna die unless we work together!)

Lightning quick, Squigzog had his weapons at the ready. He placed his shield in front of him and charged the beast. After feeling the impact against his shield, he pushed in an effort to knock the beast back.

"I've fought many like this before." He said. He pushed even harder until the stunned creature fell backwards. "They're just pushovers." he finished with a chuckle.

"So any of you sissies wanna finish it?" Said smugly said he placed his foot on the beasts tail.

Bad move. The Cockatrice swung it's tail violently, bringing Squigzog to the ground.

Peter and Deiotheus rushed forward...

(Halp me! It has meh pinned!)

"Wait, no!" yelled Peter. "If you look into it's eyes, you turn into stone!"

Deiotheus started yelling. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH OH GOOOOD IT'S LOOKING AT ME I'M GOING TO TURN INTO STOOOOONE"

"but if you're alre-"

"OH GOOOOD HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

"uh I think that it's eyes-"

"I'M GOING TO BE A STATUUUUEEEE"

"I THINK IT HAS NO EYES"

Deiotheus stopped screaming. He looked closer. "Oh, I guess it doesn't. Some other adventurers must have stabbed them out before we got to him."

"UH, LITTLE HELP HERE, I'M STILL PINNED DOWN."

"Right," said Peter. Immediately, he lifted himself into the air with his powerful wings as Deiotheus stood by below, guitar in hand.

"Uh, Deiotheus, what are you doing with tha-"

"ROOOOOOCK OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON," he yelled, strumming the guitar strings.

No sooner than he did this, a cyclone appeared from behind, approaching rapidly.

"Oh god we're in for in now," muttered Peter.

It's not that much trouble to walk up a hill to a cave is it?

It is a lot bigger than it seems on the map, you know. Plus, we aren't just gonna walk forward straight into a Cockatrice unless we're fighting it.

I mean, we need something to do besides walking straight in and grabbing the key after a single boss fight.

"Oh you simpleton, please." Iconsting replied, "Do you think you can fight me off with petty threats? Let us see what this vague 'or else' of your is, least I have to scatter your bones across the desert without you even trying to entertain me with your pathetic excuse for a fight." He sneered, drawing no weapon.

After hearing the events from his allies, Squigzog decided to stop messing around. He quickly rolled and brought himself back to his feet just as a strong blast of wind hit him. He almost lost his balance but found solid footing quickly. He decided to use the storm as a distraction and lunged for the beast, this time in an attempt to impale it upon his sword.

His blade passed through its flesh easily. He felt satisfaction from the solid stab, after not having fought monsters for some time. In a howl of rage the beast turned its attention back to Squigzog.

He withdrew his blade and aimed a strike at the beasts long neck. then a second gale struck. this time he was knocked off balance. The beast though remained standing. He repositioned his blade to block the incoming attack of opportunity.

FUCK.

I just realized that Deiphobus posted a picture of his character way back when he turned into some guy with a Warr Guitar. (Your posts have opened my eyes)

Anyway, I'll be off to work on my drawing now. My character will meet you when you settle down for the night.
