I saw a news report that said there were over 400 accidents in Houston. I also saw a video of a tractor trailer sliding down a hill in Dallas and strategically braking with a light pole.
on one hand, lmao my parents panicked because they didn't want to drive 5 minutes down the road to go eat and my mom cited 'the windshield is frozen' as a reason why. we dumped water on it and went eat lol. like that kind of shit i will not tolerate. yeah it's icy but like...drive slow and don't be stupid. but ofc 90% of the state are idiots.
on the other, our highway infrastructure is HELLA DANGEROUS when there's ice on the road. we have 50ft flyovers everywhere...we don't usually get ice. what we got was like 5 hours of sleet, followed by off and on fairly heavy snow for a couple hours. a recipe for disaster if you're trying to drive on the highway, and esp in dallas because it's in hill country. so yeah, i believe there were over 100 wrecks the other day. it's scary driving some of those overpasses when it's dry. texas isn't built for it
it was nice, all the big snow was on my birthday so i had a nice winter wonderland to play in during chores. it's never snowed on my birthday before. probably won't the be the last time in my life, especially since i'll be up north soon, but it was the first and probably last time it'll snow while i'm in texas for sure :p

this was earlier in the day, we had maybe an inch or so total of sleet + snow by that night so it looked really pretty on the roofs

the next day my yard looked like that one planet from the chronicles of riddick
