I wish my paycheck was a little bit beefier, but I'm in a comfortable enough position.

if anyone you know wants to get married on a cruise ship, please talk them out of it. my brother in law got married yesterday and it was a fucking NIGHTMARE. poor organization all around. no communication. required us to be at the port at 10 am (we were told they wouldn't let us on the boat after that,) but we weren't actually let on the boat til noon. wedding started at 1:30 then they threw us off at 3. so it was like 4 hours of sitting around (well, i was having an anxiety attack,) then we had an hour and a half of wedding + reception then we had to leave.


the good news is we were at the port so we just sat on the beach for an hour and had a nice seafood dinner and it made it a little better

I don't trust em after my air quality professor (who worked for the EPA) said they don't filter/recycle their water properly so a lot of things like people's prescription drugs don't get filtered out. Enjoy that extra helping of estrogen from all that birth control being peed out, I guess...

To be fair, I don't think I've ever heard of a wedding going as planned. Cruises I feel are generally traps for people who want to get away but maintain a level of comfort

yeah no wedding goes as planned (except mine apparently?) but this was like..........exponentially worse than any wedding i've ever been to or in. it would have been so much easier on everyone to just have the wedding elsewhere and go to the boat afterwards to y'know, do the honeymoon.

the worst thing i hear about cruises is the water doesn't taste good and you never have time to do anything at your destination(s) and i don't like to be rushed so i likely won't ever be going on one lmao. also like, you're gone for a week but like 4 days of that is just sailing? if i'm gonna pay for a week-long vacation i want to be doing shit man

yeah its mainly just sailing and gambling. I hear about a lot of older people who do it and i suppose it might be because they dont have to move around as much? they still take port calls, though, so they can be nice.

i have it on good authority as (i think?) one of the oldest people on this forum: you never really become that fabled thing called an adult. you just get better at making people think you know what you're doing

i'll let you guys know if that changes any once we purchase property in the next few months. i think at that point i'll have hit everything on the adult list besides kids

"Fake it till you make it" was bodaciously how I built up my social skills and confidence in my first job because I had to have that customer service voice. It also worked for the next job... and the next... I've found that if you just put in some amount of effort, even if it's in the totally wrong direction, you'll still have some degree of success (or at least learn something).

Shit man, the bf and I keep dreaming of the day we ascend into the holy ranks of owning property. Hope everything goes smoothly for yall!
