Keep that in mind for vehicles, or really anything that requires electricity or gas. Anything that can't be powered by your own body will prove useless in an undead world.

Guns would still work, and there is enough gas in gas stations to keep cars fuled. If its electric and NOT battery opperated its dead within about some amont of short time, less than 3 days im sure, generaters would be good.

So, what? Gas stations are zombie-free zones or something? If you are pumping gas into your car after fighting your way through a bunch of zombies (or they weren't there for some reason), what if one of the little buggers is on fire or something and runs into the hose pumping the gas?

If you really want to survive in this ridiculous world of yours, you'd better be aware of every risk you are making up for yourself to get killed by. :colbert:

Maybe I just skipped over it, but none of you gun-totting dudes seem to consider the idea that gunshots may attract entire hordes of zombies. You only have so many bullets, and your accuracy is only so great, and getting up-close and personal would be extremely risky.

Well if you read a certain guide by a certain Max Brooks you learn that all you need is a good rifle, a small blunt weapon, running shoes, and some smarts, you can survive the zombie apocalypse almost anywhere.

p.s. you should give it a read, it was a very fun book.
He's even more fun in person, but yeah, his books are very entertaining reads.

Gas stations would most likely have zombies, people tryin' to escape.

So before ya would get all relaxed and start pumping at your pleasure, you might want to check for zombies.

And yes Insert, gunshots always have a chance of attracting zombies. It is dangerous to get up close but that just gives more reason to try and find a way around rather then through zombies.

In an apocalypse, I don't think I'd be Frankish enough to survive in a mall. That's usually where people go and get trapped.

I'd probably hide in my house, stockpile a few weapons I could use to bash in their skulls, try to get a gun (only as a last resort, since I've no idea how to use them), and maybe make a few molotovs.

then I'd die horribly in the ensuing fight, since I am horrible at this sort of thing.

Mostly, unless it was like , solar powered or something, but then you'd be Kinda fucked at night. But I suppose you do make a decent point.

Actually, vehicles would make great decoys themselves. Think about it, the Zombie world is gonna be dead silent, aside from wind and a groan here and there. What better way to bring a zombie away from your escape route than to rev up a working car, put a cinder block on the gas, hide in a convenient enough location and wait for most of the horde to pass over before making your way in the other direction?

I suppose that would work to an extent. But the thing is, you wouldn't be able to use it as a decoy more than once. and that would kinda be a big waste of fuel.

Fuel that could be put in like, a chainsaw or like... something else.

A noisy chainsaw. It would attract the same amount of attention if you were to use the auto-decoy. But the only problem is that you won't be hiding. You'd be fighting an entire mob coming from every direction. With a chainsaw. Your noisy chainsaw.

As posted earlier, you'll want to avoid anything that you can't move with your own will power, so chainsaws are kind of a luxury, and an attention getter at that; something you don't want in this kind of world.

Not to mention blood could splatter into an eye or perhaps an open wound if you'd have one while using the chainsaw.

One way of getting infected.

Plus if your on the move without a vehicle, carrying containers of gasoline would be a burden,
and if you had a vehicle it should always go into that, or possibly a gas powered generator but those are usually noisy.

Yes, anything that creates explosions to generate power will make noise but I was not sure whether or not newer models are capable of dampening their sound better than older versions. And now that I contemplate it further it would be an item one would only consider using on the defense in whatever fortified structure you were holed up in.
