Riku, for the cinnamon rolls, do they have to be made with margarine or will regular butter work too?

Ah, crap. I forgot that it said margarine. My mom had gone and changed the recipe for some reason while I had hte computer open.

It's supposed to say Butter. You can use margarine, but butter has a better flavor.

If you noticed, I called it butter throughout the process.

Oh okay.

Yeah looking back at the instructions I see where you called it butter but I was just looking at the ingredients list at the time.

Thanks!

Not a problem!
Also, make sure that your yeast isn't dead. Mine actually didn't rise as much as they were supposed to, because my silly mom left the yeast jar open on the counter for too long a while back.

Just warning you so that you don't start worrying when they get a bit more poofy than mine did.

Addendum: if your yeast hasn't been properly sealed, there might be bugs, or mold and shit in there. I usually don't keep any on hand, it can be a hassle.

I didn't see anything. and it smelled fine. It could just be that the yeast was so old it just didn't activate fully. I don't know how long that stuff has been in the fridge.

Yeah well that won't be a problem because I just took inventory and SURPRISE SURPRISE we don't have any yeast.

Guess I'll just bug my mom about getting some on her next shopping trip.

Yeah, I'm not saying there was anything wrong with yours, just that yeast is perishable stuff. Just advising more caution than one might take with, say, flour.

Riku has just come back in from playing in the invisible July snow. She currently feels like some:

HOT COCOA

Riku was thinking last night that she should give you something delicious to pair with your cinnamon rolls. And she realized what it was. Hot cocoa. Thus, she is telling you her secret recipe that Sloth loves so much at the freezing cold football games.

Please note that it was quite painful for Riku to cook with measuring rather than just cooking by sight. You had better appreciate her sacrifice.

INGREDIENTS (per serving):
1 cup of milk (although if you're using 2% or higher, Riku says to use 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup water)
2Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs cocoa.
a half of 1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
a half of 1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 Tbs coffee
1/4 tsp vanilla

Image

INSTRUCTIONS
Heat your milk very gently on the stove. Also, don't turn the stove on until you already have the milk in the pot. You want it to have as smooth a transition as possible. Keep your stove on the lowest, or second to lowest setting. The milk should not change appearance. If it does, you've messed up somehow and need to start again.
Image

Put your ingredients in while the milk warms. Whisk it up reeeeeeal nice. let it finish warming up, and you're good to go.

Riku is drinking hers with a cinnamon roll for breakfast. iz gud.

And don't get used to this every day thing.
