I'm looking for computers with good specs but I can't really tell which one is better than another one...

http://www.pricewatch.com/price/compute ... os/i5-2500
Do any of these look like good gaming pcs?

Well, no. All of the computers there link you to sites where you're supposed to modify the computer further, the advertised models are more or less suitable for web browsing. None of them come with a graphics card unless you add one and the ones that you can add cost way more than if bought separately. Actually, everything not included in the base model is clearly marked up in price. Plus, adding a card would also require you to add a better power supply. You're looking at an increase of $200 minimum over the advertised prices if you actually want a machine suitable for gaming.

My laptop enjoys such pastimes as:

  • Overheating when I play games
  • Overheating when I have adobe programs open
  • Overheating when I leave it idle with music playing
  • Overheating when I leave it idle with no programs open except the bare minimum for it to function

It only started this a month or so ago and I can't figure out why. The task manager says I'm not using anywhere close to maximum anything. I think I might have a dead fan, but opening the bottom would void my warranty.

Also my main computer has been dead for about 2 months now. It suddenly decided to stop booting past windows loading, and now it won't even load the BIOS. The lights come on, the fans whir, the monitor light goes from orange standby to green "has a connection" and then nothing.

My laptop was quick to overheat for a long time too. What I would up doing was disconnecting the usb-powered cooling fan (which happened to be blocking the laptop's ACTUAL fan...) and propping it up off my desk to let air flow underneath it. I also have a tabletop fan set up and pointed at it just in case.

Also guys, I wound up getting a customized computer from Dell's website with an intel i5 processor, a terabyte of hard drive, 8 gigs of RAM, and a Geforce graphics card.

If it's still under warranty, you could just return it?

Of course. My laptop's around 1½ years old and I've been planning on disassembling it and cleaning it thoroughly.

I'd love to get a can of pressurized air and put it to my laptop fan someday.

That's the most effective way, yeah, but you need direct access to the fan which can be tricky depending on the laptop. On some models it's enough to remove one plate, on others, have fun taking out 20 screws and the keyboard.

I'm looking for a good keyboard and a nice mouse with some bindable buttons, any reccommendations?
A good keyboard with bindable keys and a nice mouse is also an option I'm open to.

You can get pretty cheap 'gaming' mice on Amazon if you search for Anker. There are other brands that obviously sell the same models with different designs, I just remember that name because it's what I wound up with. It's a great mouse, only downside is that the driver for keybindings makes it lag a bit when a window with fullscreen focus crashes.

That's a workstation from 2008, mind you. The GPU isn't really suited for games. Don't expect mind-blowing performance.

Yeah, I know it's not really for games. I'm gonna be using it for 3D modelling and programming mostly. It runs TF2 fine and if that's the limit on games it can run I'm fine with that.

My sister's laptop screen is broken, and she wants to get to the pictures on her hard drive. Is it possible to remove the HDD and put it into another laptop so they can look at the stuff?
