An old man needs to take one dose of two different medicines every day. One pill = one dose. He keeps the pills in glass bottles. One day, he accidently fumbles the glasses and they shatter. There were two pills in each bottle. If he takes more than one of the same type of pill, he will overdose and likely die. The pills look, taste, feel, smell, and are the same size and density.

How can he take the correct amount of medicine without overdosing?

He takes half of each pill, for one dose of both medicines.

This chest has no lock, key, or hinge, but golden treasure lay within.

In the group I played DnD with last semester, the DM had a sphinx ask the group's magic users (aka the people with all the mental attributes) the famous riddle, "I have rivers without water, mountains without rocks," etc. It bodaciously took one of them about 90 minutes to get the answer. In the meantime, the other player hung himself because he couldn't figure out the riddle in his room, and his character died. Riddles. I was just watching at the time because my character had gotten murdered the previous session. If for some reason someone hasn't heard that riddle, here it is:

"I have rivers without water,
Forests without trees,
Mountains without rocks,
Towns without houses.
What am I?"
