No matter how hard I try, I cannot think of a single situation where someone could get a nail embedded in them and not notice it. I've heard stories like this before, but usually people recall the original accident.

Wouldn't an MRI do more to an inch-long nail than dislodge it a little?
Or maybe I just watch too much House.

They're generally not THAT powerful. Enough to shake metallic objects slightly if they're held, or flung if not; it seems about right that the nail would just have been dislodged instead of ripped away.
