Liberal is, by dictionary reference, favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs and open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas, values, etc.

Basically, radical and liberal are polar opposites, in religious and political senses.

Anyways, radical anything scares me.

See, your definition of liberal is what my dictionary is almost a synonym to what my dictionary is saying is the definition of radical. I think you are confused as to what radical actual is.

Radical: Characterized by departure from tradition; innovative or progressive

Radical and Liberal sound very very similar. It's Fundamentalists, or Fanatics that are bad.

... Okay anyway, fuck it, liberal christians are bad as hell too. Just because you are less bigoted, doesn't make you any less mentally insane.

anyone who pushes their views on others, instead of making a simple suggestion one time, is crazy.

Don't just tolerate those who are different, give them the same freedoms you expect for yourself.

The only people who shouldn't be tolerated are those who don't tolerate others and would deny others the same freedoms they expect and enjoy.

Anyway, if everybody believed in the same thing and had the same opinions it'd generally be kinda dull, and there'd be nothing more to talk about.

I'm agnostic by the way.

This is the way I look at it. People can believe ANYTHING THEY WANT as long as it doesn't conflict with things that are ALREADY PROVEN.

For example, since this topic started about Christianity:

Christians who believe that god created the universe but things like evolution still happened= Good

Christians who believe that god created everything in six days including humanity and that things like evolution and dinosaurs never happened = bad.

I like to try to be open minded about all this religion stuff, but personally I think it would be nice if god existed because then we would get an afterlife but that's just me.

Sometimes I wonder how many people here are Christian but terrified to admit it.

Seriously. I mean people seem to get attacked a lot for things they just like, not even what they believe.

But I do agree, a lot of religions do go too extreme, a lot of time branch offs of the real religion.

religion is religion

let's leave religious people to their prayers and jihads, they're boring and getting involved in their debates just makes it more asinine

This is not a religious discussion.
It is a discussion of Blackwater.

Stay on-topic.

Basically, Blackwater (or as it's known now, Xe) is under investigation for murdering innocent Iraqis, people under their employ who were complying with federal inquiries, firing mental health professionals who deemed their employees unfit for deployment, instituting "free-for-all" policies when it came to slaughtering Muslim civilians, evading taxes, and [possibly] prostituting children.

All under the motivation of "God."

Chance that a crazy extremist will try excuse themself with their religion (if applicable) = very high %
Chance that what they did is actually because of their religion = very low %

Chance that people will consider that instead of trying to push their own agenda about that religion = equally low %, as this thread shows.

The problem is that there's nothing really to discuss on the person himself. What's there to say other than "I am shocked that such an uncivilised person can be in such a high position of power"?

That's why this whole thread was only created to give an excuse for Ody to state his reason as to why religion is bad.

There's not much to say about the guy himself so this should have been put into the "Topics not important enough for own thread".
