I have to say it's much easier to learn once you have the basics down. Once you have which conjugations are used with which pronouns, which tenses there are, grammatical placement, etc. down all you need to do then is learn as many words as you can and (if nouns) their gender.

Standard verb conjugations should come next lesson or the one after.
Past tense a bit later. Future tense is fucking easy as hell.

I read German for two years but gave up after I went to gymnasium because I had lost interest, mostly due to my teacher

Just starting on using the dass conjunction.

Yup. Dass for the word "that", das as article "the". Also usually a comma in front of "dass"

Now I'm regretting dropping German my third year. I really want to learn but it would be weird to go back to school next year just to take German.

You can learn it here in this very thread. You only have to wait a while for new stuff if you had 3 years of it already.
