My grandparents speak Norwegian, and my mother knows some too. I wish I did.

Mais, je comprends un peu de français.

That probably didn't make sense anyway.

Maybe you should pay attention to my "Lessons" at the other forum and you might learn some.
@Akasha Ravenstar: You should too pay attention thinking over that today's Norwegian is what we call Norwegianized Danish.

True, but I don't live in Denmark and they don't teach it here where I live in the States. My family is around Aarhus and in Harlev back home. Spoke with a Norwegian once in Tivoli, but couldn't really understand her well, but a friend of the family could. It was hard to understand all the talk about Hans Christen Andersen, too, so the only thing I could understand and do (very well, too) was shooting at the shooting gallery there. They use BBs instead of the stupid cork stuff we have here in our amusement parks, and I was outshooting this 40 something year old guy, and when I told him I was from the USA he nodded and goes "that explains it." :D

You're not truly American unless you know the second language of Spanish, eh.

What is the difference in meaning between the words "Norwegian" and "Norse?" Just curious.

Norwegian is for today's Norway.

Norse is the ancient place which is where norway including sweden is today. For example: Ancient Norse Gods
which I wanna believe in today.
