How to Write a Novel: The Snowflake Method.

This is a good way to approach creative writing.

The idea is to start small and simple, then progressively build complexity and detail in a logical way.

It helps you understand where you're going, as well as where you've come from with your writing.

It helps me anyway.

If I were you I'd post them at deviantART first - that way you've got some degree of copyright protection.

And I wouldn't post them directly here - I'd create a thread for 'Fiction and Fan Fiction' - and link to your deviantART pages (other people could also link their fiction/fan fiction in this thread).

That way it's not just your own work that's under scrutiny - and you're not forcing your work down people's thoats - people here haven't reacted well to that in the past.

Be warned you may get some people being assholes and saying your work is crap just for the fun of it.

I personally don't have an interest in reading a lot of fan fiction - I prefer artwork - but if you think about the best way to present it here you won't ruffle too many feathers.

Even better, the Burroughs method of writing a best selling novel:

1. Write some shitty pornographic shit about aliens, heroin, gay sex, etc.
2. Cut it up, scramble it, rearrange all the words.
3. Become the most important writer of the 1950s.

6b. Then the movie will be a blockbuster, even though it sucks.

But more to the point, The Anti Guide Wiki is a good (and funny) guide to help avoid the common pitfalls of writers. Another thing, just for damage control: The Anti Guide is supposed to be ultra-sarcastic.
