Anyone interested in joining should be free to learn everything they need to make an informed decision, rather than pressured into purchasing the costly information with disreputable aggressive sales tactics. Scientology has done a lot of really, really, really disgusting things to hide and sell the sort of information that any real church would attempt to cram into a free pamphlet.
